Most people over the age of 40 are familiar with rotary dials, and everyone loves and is fascinated by one. Its unique character and style add a sense of home and warmth to their place/office with a telephone from years gone by.
RECONFIGURED FOR YOUR CONVENIENCE Handset cord is hard wired. Line cord is hard wired too and tipped with a modern modular plug on the end that fits a standard wall phone jack. To operate pinch plug into jack, pick up receiver, and hear the dial tone.
MARKINGS Bakelite handset and fingerhold in the phone’s back is raise relief brand: KELLOGG IT&T Undercarriage is clearly identified by the manufacturer’s mark: 59100 (LR) 02 D 859 Machine-age streamline appearance (without banjo) is similar to: Kellogg Model DK-500
You may remember, from the TV series, this is the jet-black phone choice of Perry Mason – and he never missed a call.
CONDITION
Overall excellent as you can see from the photos. They certainly don’t make phones like this any more. The built-to-last heavy duty system comes with the vintage coiled handset cord, and original elements appear all here. The retro handset ear cap has six holes. The instrument base is rust free and in excellent condition.
The bakelite (polymer plastic) base shell has a couple of minor scuff issues … few scratch marks, not deep, of its history. These are consistent with ordinary use and are imperceptible except upon closer inspection. Plastic is free of cracks or chips (absolutely no hairlines present). Overall smooth surface. Color is shiny and solid throughout. White letters and numbers are bright and focused.
Especially interesting is the smooth dial ring and finger wheel action with a resistant-free return. The bright finger wheel clip appears to be stainless steel. You may personalize the dial center with your own favorite number card.
SERVICE IS … TESTED & READY Buy this from me, and make and receive calls immediately. Simply plug in and use today. This is personally tested and it works. You can give this a new life when you put it to use in your place/office lifestyle décor. This jewel has a MODERN PLUG and it DIALS OUT and it RECEIVES CALLS. I am sure it once had a beautiful ringing sound made by the dual harmonic brass ringer bell within, but today it does not ring. Except for this, it works as it was designed to do.
CARE & MAINTENANCE This is nicely finished, and will improve periodically with a mild coat of plastic polish like Novus 2 and elbow grease. The leather/suede on the 4 protective footpads is 100% intact. They will benefit from cleaning, brushing and an applied coat of dark leather dye – if preferred. Personally, the rustic age toning adds character. Either way, you will receive complement after complements from guests.
