… and, welcome everybody!
I found a nice dessert dish in my cupboard.
I invite you to take a moment to consider the qualities of this distinctive East Asian porcelain ware. The bold blue on pure white makes great tableware, just right for you, especially as this 7” side dish appears to be brand new.
QUING HUA LING LONGThis means ‘blue and white porcelain with semi-transparent rice pattern’.
MARKINGSThe character hallmark marks in the logo traces this back to the second half of the 20th Century at Guangming Porcelain Factory in Jingdezhen. This factory specializes in Wanyu Brand "Rice Grain" which is b/w porcelain in western style for export. It is also known for making"Rice Grain" tableware, tea sets, lamps, vases, egg-shell bowls and gift pieces.
I found it interesting that 1800 employed craftsmen at this Guangming Porcelain Factory delivered an annual production of over 20 million pieces in 1990 alone.
MAY BE 25-55 YEARS OLD
Zhongguo Jingdezhen China Jingdezhen. This "China Jingdezhen" mark of good quality and with the factory numbers or letters taken away are the currently used one in export porcelain found in the shops today. I would prefer to date these marks as just ‘modern’ and unlikely to be much older than the 1990's. However it has previously been indicated they could be from as early as the 1950's. I have seen no proofs of that. This is an extraordinary back stamp, however.
The words “MADE IN CHINA” are in English lettering and Asian script.
This is definitely a vintage work of art, and has a lot going for it.
First are the celadon rice grains that shimmer in the light. This type of porcelain produces a bell-like ring when struck. Next is the clean look of blue on white. In addition … mint condition, charming and beautiful style. Porcelain is unusually light but strong
Add to this, it is a marvelous feeling of contemplation as you trace fingers over the delicate motif of rice grains embedded into the finish.

GREAT FOR GIFT GIVING Semi-Translucent, Soft Greenish-Gray, Rice Grain Lithopane Style Finish Is World-Known ~ This Blue & White Is A Wonderful Addition To Any Collection
ELEGANT AND NATURAL A refreshing example of fine porcelain presented in wonderful design, pattern and painting style. This is still very greatly admired in today’s generation. This lovely display object will grace any table, curio or china cabinet. Light clearly shines through the displaced rice grains.
DESIGNGraceful decorator aspects are well organized, richly colored, vividly painted and have the ability to let light through. A blanket of medium and dark blue outlines separate each pattern from the next. There is a diamond rim, bi-plane border repeat, and the pinstripe bands symmetrically interchange with lavish embellishment. The inside design that is sketched and painted in the center looks like a Chrysanthemum as we recognize it. It is likely of a peony, which is the flower of prosperity in Chinese.
DESIGN HISTORY Based upon traditional techniques, this kind of unsurpassed quality dinnerware advanced to become a splendid pearl of the world’s finest porcelain market. This has skillfully developed from the thousand-year-old (spanning centuries of history) openwork techniques used during the Song Dynasty (960-1279 AD) when emperors started royal factories to produce porcelain for their palaces. Since the 1300s, most Chinese porcelain has been made in the city of Jingdezhen.
PATTERN MANUFACTURE This is one of 4 major traditional products of the most famous Jingdezhen, Jiangxi province, industrial region with a legendary past. It is the porcelain capital city, center of all porcelain production in China and noted for outstanding craftsmanship and artistry.
This side dish was made at the Guangming Porcelain Factory in Jingdezhen.
I have other fine Jingdezhen porcelain floral and/or dragon ware in this well sought rice pattern.
