EARLY NAME IN AMERICAN DINNERWAREThis is made in Trenton NJ by the Maddocks Lamberton Works sometime around the turn of the 19th century - with the progression to colored transferware rather than black and white.
The Maddocks purchased the pottery company back in 1888 and excelled in domestic and commercial china. Maddocks changed hands in 1924, at which time the name was changed to Scammell China Company when the one-time Maddock office boy D. Wm. Scammell and his 5 brothers purchased and ran the plant until it finally closed its doors in 1954.
MARKINGSThis serving bowl is back stamped with the ‘M’ and ‘Maddocks – Lamberton Works – Royal Porcelain’ dating between 1888 and 1923.
