Date Listed: Sep-11-08 The gentle glow of a Wolfard Lamp radiates hospitality.
Made between 1975 and 1999 by Wolfard Glassblowing Co in California, this comes to you with a glass wick holder and wick. Also included is the original box accompanied by instruction and product brochure inserts.
APPROXIMATE DIMENSIONS It stands about 9” high and is 3-3/4” across. Its 4-ounce fuel capacity delivers 25 hours of burning time. (Since each lamp is hand blown and may vary slightly, this figure is approximate and thus the globe is intended to contain enough oil to keep your lamp burning many hours without refilling.)
This noteworthy 35-year-old artwork reflects the timeless look for which Wolfard Oil Lamps are well known. Its globe-shaped reservoir is uniquely suspended inside, and is easily filled with oil from the handy spout outside.
Since patterned in 1973, this lamp earned international acclaim. It has been included in the Whitney Museum of American Art (Manhattan) exhibition “High Styles: 20th Century American Design,” a review of outstanding examples of furniture, industrial design and decorative objects.
A HANDSOME WORK OF FUNCTIONAL ART Whether in your home or in a world-class museum, Wolfard Lamps bring style and elegance to any room -- adding romantic warmth to any décor, from contemporary to traditional.
An exclusive trademarked design in hand-blown glass by Jon Wolfard, this graceful lamp is often copied, but never equaled in classic beauty.
It is created from the finest heat-resistant glass (borosilicate) that is one and the same high-quality material used in laboratory instruments and renowned for its strength and clarity … so it is a classic beauty with added durability.
Wolfard’s exclusive “in-flame” technique requires higher-than-usual skills of the glassblower at his craft. This demands a higher temperature than other art glass methods, and, in turn, presents an additional challenge for the craftsman to form the object while the glass remains workable.
No two Wolfard lamps are exactly alike, due to variations in this art form. All are a beautiful handcrafted design to be cherished for generations.
