NASCAR lovers can now make chef and restaurateur Mario Batali’s tasty versions of classic tailgating food – lots of grilled meats and cocktails – along with innovative new recipes. From a breakfast of Eggs in Hell to a dinner of Thai Flank Steak with a Watermelon Gin and Tonic, Batali serves up food that many car-racing fans are sure to enjoy. Recipes include Cuban-Style Chicken Thighs, Pocono Hanger Steak Fajitas, Monster Shrimp with Orange Chili Glaze, and Mudslide Pie.
This is a fun grilling cookbook to share with friends and I think you will view NASCAR races (with your family) in a much different light.
With its easy recipes and clear, simple instructions, Mario Tailgates NASCAR Style is the source for tailgating for fans around the country. It features regional favorites and classic grilling recipes on which Mario has put his signature spin. Included are ideas for breakfast, appetizers, main courses, desserts, and drinks, all incorporating ingredients found in almost any supermarket. Written with Mario’s usual wit and candor, and punctuated with racing lore, this book will allow everyone to cook great- tasting food with ease and have the folks tailgating next to you longing for leftovers.
The recipe for Mario's Kick A(ss) Barbecue Sauce (p.127) alone is worth the price of admission along with his insight into a subculture existence surrounding NASCAR fans. Plenty of exceptional full-color photos support recipes and NASCAR activities.
. . . but you don’t have to be a NASCAR fan to love this cookbook. BUY IT!!
You can do these recipes inside in your kitchen or outside on the grill.
EVERYTHING HERE CAN EASILY BE DONE INDOORS
. . . and you don’t have to be tailgating.
The food is suitable for the kitchen table, the deck, a picnic, or just to bring something special to an everyday family dinner.
Tonight why don’t you try his son Leo's Sloppy Joes (p. 150) with creamy coleslaw (p. 172).
How about barbecued meat loaf (p. 87) with corn and sweet onion salad (p. 168)? Finish off with Mario's Apple Brown Betty (p. 189) and you have a real pleaser.
This book also contains one of the better Alabama White BBQ Sauce (p.41) recipes you may come across.
