One Deck Factory Sealed – Mint
Portrait Hsiang-fei (fl. 1760 A.D.) by Lang Shih-ning
She was given her name, Fragrance (Hsiang), because of the strange scent
her body had when she was born. Her tribe was destroyed in Emperor
Kao-tsung’s campaign against the Uighurs, and she herself was taken to
the Ch’ing court as a concubine. She became the emperor’s greatest favorite.
Aces are of a girl named Hung Fo by Chang Dai-Chien.
2s are Marble Owl - Shang dynasty – Ca. 1766-1122 B.C.
The owl is a combination of elegant and refined detail with tremendously powerful
silhouette that contributes to a mysterious effect – the unique quality of Shang art.
3s are Pel, Archaic Jade Pendent - Shang dynasty – 1766-1122 B.C.
Birdshaped pendent. Light brown in colour. The bird is standing with a dragon on the head.
4s are Ch’i, Archaic Jade Axe – Chou dynasty 1122-221 B.C.
Jade tablet in the shape of axe, decorated with dragon pattern on both sides.
5s are White Jace Flower Holder – Ming dynasty 1368-1644
The vessel is the shape of a fish, the mouth of the fish used as the mouth of the vase.
6s are Chinese Seal – Ch’ing dynasty 1644-1911 A.D.
7s are Jadeite Cabbage – Ch’ing dynasty 1644-1911
It is a whole piece of jade and carved according to its natural colour into cabbage.
There are 2 grasshoppers on the leaves.
8s are Crystal Statue of God of Longevity – Ch’ing dynasty 1644-1911 A.D.
The statue is a representation of Shou-hsing. This figure is
dressed in long flowing robes and has a kindly appearance.
9s are Meat-shaped Stone – Ch’ing dynasty 1644-1911
This object is carved with its natural form into a lively piece of meat.
10s are Dark Green Jade Flower Holder – Ch’ing dynasty 1644-1911
Two fishes are very lively carved in the shape of jumping.
Inscription around the mouth.
Jacks - The imperial concubine Hsiang is seen wearing an armour.
Queens – An Empress of Jen-tsung of the Sung dynasty – 1050 A.D.
The subject has her face covered by a gauge veil under
which pearl ornaments have been set on her skin.
Kings – Emperor T’ai-tsu of the Ming dynasty – reigned 1368-1398.
He was the founder of the Ming dynasty. He captured Peking, thus
extinguishing the Yuan dynasty and making himself ruler of China.
Jokers are Chung K’uei by Hsin-yu Fu.
