Date Listed: Oct-25-08 TASTYTEA Tea sales are going up . . . after water, tea is the most popular beverage in the world. It is perceived to be refreshing and healthful. Carbonated beverage sales are going down . . . recent medical research suggests "the prevalence of metabolic syndrome is increased among middle age adults who regularly drink carbonated soft drinks, even if those sodas are calorie free. Metabolic snydrome includes several cardiovascular risk factors, including high blood pressure, extra fat around the abdomen, and glucose intolerance - a condition that often precedes diabetes, etc, etc". The best iced tea is fresh brewed from purified water and real tea leaves, & sweetened with pure cane sugar. It is the most profitable beverage a food service outlet can add to their menu. Why don't more of them offer it? There are 3 reasons: 1. It is labor intensive to prepare and trained workers are difficult to locate and retain. They also require supervision to maintain quality and follow sanitation requirements. 2. The sweetener must be added before the drink is served. When stored in conventional atmospheric reservoirs the shelf life is short, resulting in excessive waste and lowered profits. 3. Bacteria grows rapidly if presweetened tea is stored at room temperatures making sanitation of the equipment and containers a constant challenge. The giant Cola companies, who supply carbonated beverages and dispensing equipment throughout the food service industry offer a substitute product, made from sweepings from tea and flavored with artificial additives. It has an off taste and does not sell well as anyone who has tried it knows. A high tech, state of the art, fully automated, proprietary advanced delivery system called "TASTY TEA''will soon be leased to users with full maintenance and automatic product delivery. The lessee needs only to supply space (it goes through a 30" door), water, electricity, a drain, and servers to dispense the drinks through regular soft drink type dispensers and serve them to patrons.\ The system brews the tea from select real tea leaves, and purified water (the water is available for ice and other beverages too)chills, stores and circulates it,along with an all natural cane sugar based sweetener, to the remote dispensers. The system even sanitizes itself. It also pays for itself from the extra revenue and reduced worker and water costs it produces.
