Duke is an absolutely adorable 4 year old red male American Pit Bull Terrier. This handsome bully boy was originally rescued from a shelter, but when his adopters broke up when he was just 1 1/2, they stopped caring for him so Duke's owner's sister took him. She has recently found out she is pregnant and for financial reasons is moving back in with her parents the beginning of May, where Duke is not welcome. Duke is a sweet, active but mellow boy who loves car rides, but isn't so fond of water. He enjoys treats of all kinds and toys, especially nylabones and just cuz toys. He walks well on leash with the aid of a prong collar, and knows basic commands "sit:", "lay down", and "gimme 5". Duke makes no complaints about being handled all over or having items removed from his mouth- he's just glad to get the attention. Duke has already displayed the typical same sex dog aggression that is so common with this breed, but he may be able to be placed with a compatible female; due to the Pit Bulls' tendency for same sex dog aggression,Duke will not be placed in a home with other male dogs and can NOT be placed with cats. Duke is housebroken and crate trained He has been neutered, vaccinated, fecal tested and dewormed, heartworm tested negative and kept on heartworm prevention, and microchipped. There is a $200.00 adoption fee to partially reimburse the organization for the veterinary expenses listed above. Duke is looking for an INDOOR home, ONLY: we do not adopt to homes that will keep our rescued Pitties outdoors and/or on chains, runners, or in fences, kennels, pens, etc- If you cannot/will not provide an indoor home for our Bullies, or are looking to breed/fight, do NOT contact our organization (or apply for adoption) regarding Duke or any of our rescued Pit Bulls. Application, adoption fee, home checks, references, and contract are REQUIRED for adoption.
