Peanut is an adorable one year old chocolate female American Pit Bull Terrier. This sweetheart was originally surrendered by her owner as an 8 week old puppy; he moved to a location where he could not keep her, and Peanut was sent to a foster home. Her foster parents fell in love with her and were hoping to be able to keep her, but recently had an incident with Peanut and the other female dog of the home, so the decision has been made that she will not be remaining with her foster parents. Peanut's parents have expressed that Peanut needs an experienced Pittie parent/family who can offer her a more strict, firm household. Peanut is a sweet girl who does well on leash, enjoys car rides, and adores attention from her people; she would normally rather be with her people than with the other dog in the home. She is fairly well trained, knowing commands "sit", "stay", "come", "treat", "car ride", "dinner" and "bed", but she needs someone who can be firm with her. Peanut makes no complaints about being bathed, groomed, handled all over, or having items removed from her mouth. While she won't seek out new dogs in public situations to attack, Peanut can NOT live with other animals; she has been raised in a home with three other dogs, and cats, with whom she has been fine with until recently, and has attacked almost every animal in her home over the past month. She would be fine to take to the vet or PetsMart for short, limited interactions with other animals, but due to her history of getting along with other dogs and attacking them out of the blue, Peanut NEEDS to be the ONLY pet in her adoptive home. Peanut is housebroken and crate trained. She has been spayed, kept current on vaccines, treated for heartworms and heartworm tested negative, kept current on heartworm prevention, fecal tested, dewormed, and microchipped. There is a $200.00 adoption fee to partially reimburse the organization for the veterinary expenses listed above. Peanut is looking for an INDOOR home, ONLY: we do not adopt to homes that will keep our rescued Pitties outdoors and/or on chains, runners, or in fences, kennels, pens, etc- If you cannot/will not provide an indoor home for our Bullies, or are looking to breed/fight, do NOT contact our organization (or apply for adoption) regarding Peanut or any of our rescued Pit Bulls. Application, adoption fee, home checks, references, and contract are REQUIRED for adoption.
