"Awesome" Dawson is an absolutely adorable 18 month old black male American Pit Bull Terrier. This handsome bully boy was found wandering in the yard of his current owners back in September 2008; unfortunately, BSL is being passed where they live prohibiting the ownership of APBTs, and they are no longer able to keep Awesome, so he must find a new home ASAP. Awesome has high hopes that someone will come along and see what a great boy he is, and offer him a forever home and a life full of pampering and spoiling! Awesome is a well behaved, mellow boy who enjoys car rides, long walks, and craves attention from his people. He has great leash manners, and knows commands "sit" and "no"- he is receptive to training and learns quickly. He loves to play tug, enjoys chasing (and sometimes returning) a ball, and loves apples. He makes no complaints about being handled all over or having items removed from his mouth- he's just glad to get the attention. Awesome's owners have Bible study in their home, and Awesome LOVES the kids who attend the study group- he would make an excellent family addition. He does have a relatively high prey drive and does not like cats. Awesome interacts well with other female dogs, though has displayed same sex dog aggression the APBT is notorious for. As such, due to the Pit Bulls' tendency for same sex dog aggression, Awesome will not be placed in a home with other male dogs. Awesome has been neutered, vaccinated, fecal tested and dewormed, heartworm tested negative and kept on heartworm prevention, and microchipped. There is a $200.00 adoption fee to partially reimburse the organization for the veterinary expenses listed above. Awesome is looking for an INDOOR home, ONLY: we do not adopt to homes that will keep our rescued Pitties outdoors and/or on chains, runners, or in fences, kennels, pens, etc- If you cannot/will not provide an indoor home for our Bullies, or are looking to breed/fight, do NOT contact our organization (or apply for adoption) regarding Awesome or any of our rescued Pit Bulls. Application, adoption fee, home checks, references, and contract are REQUIRED for adoption.
