Pit Bull Terrier - Medium - Young - Female - Dog - Lexi
Description
Please read all of the information provided on this page before contacting Pit Prints Rescue directly: the answers to most questions about this dog can be found by reading the information below, or about our adoption requirements by visiting our Requirements for Adoption page. Lexi is an adorable 1 1/2 year old 50lb fawn female American Pit Bull Terrier. This sweetheart was originally adopted from an Atlanta shelter, and then was later given to another home where she was abandoned. She was found roaming the streets and when picked up by a passerby and taken to the vet to scan for a chip, her microchip traced back to the original owner who refused to claim Lexi or provide information on the person they gave her to. Since her owners won't reclaim her, the woman who picked Lexi up ended up taking her home and contacting us to find her a suitable home with someone who will commit to her unlike her former homes. Lexi has proven herself to be trustworthy [loose] in the house when home alone and does not chew anything or have accidents, but if placed with another dog, as with all Pits, she needs to be crated.kept separate from other dogs when home alone. Lexi is a pretty laid back bully who enjoys play times, but for the most part, is a mellow girl who likes to nap on the couch or at your side. She enjoys car rides and does well in the car, remaining in the back seat for the duration of the ride. She loves attention from people, but hasn't shown an intense interest in toys or rawhides, though she does enjoy an occasional short game of fetch with one of her toys. She adores people, and wants nothing more than to please her people- she is extremely affectionate, and loves to follow her person around the house. She is very eager to please, walks well on leash, and is a quick learner; she knows to wait at the top of the stairs for you to go down, and knows basic commands. Lexi has excellent "in public" manners, and is very ladylike when meeting new people; she gets excited, but remains composed and does not jump on people. She makes no complaints about being bathed, groomed, handled all over, or having items removed from her mouth. Lexi enjoys the company of kids, and interacts well with other animals, cats included, but due to the Pit Bulls' tendencies for same sex dog aggression, she will not be placed in a home with other female dogs. Lexi is housebroken and crate trained. She has been spayed, kept current on vaccines, heartworm tested negative, kept current on heartworm prevention, fecal tested, dewormed, and microchipped. There is a $200.00 adoption fee to partially reimburse the organization for the veterinary expenses listed above. Lexi is looking for an INDOOR home, ONLY: we do not adopt to homes that will keep our rescued Pitties outdoors and/or on chains, runners, or in fences, kennels, pens, etc- If you cannot/will not provide an indoor home for our Bullies, or are looking to breed/fight, do NOT contact our organization (or apply for adoption) regarding Lexi or any of our rescued Pit Bulls. Application, adoption fee, home checks, references, and contract are REQUIRED for adoption. To be considered for adoption, please fill out and submit an Application for Adoption BEFORE contacting us directly.
