Border Collie - Medium - Young - Male - Dog - Willy

Willie is a striking pointer/border collie mix and he is brilliant! In the short time he has been in his foster home, he has proved to be an intelligent dog that needs frequent mental stimulation and physical activity. He loves to learn new commands and he thrives when he is busy and involved in many activities. He is a beautiful boy that weighs 30 pounds- he is the perfect size, not too big and not too small! His fur in mostly black and white, but he has black and brown spots on his back, feet, and legs. One thing we know for sure about Willie is that he has the softest fur, sweetest expression and the cutest ears that perk up and flop over when he is listening to you. Once Willie is comfortable with his surroundings and his people, he is the most loving dog you can imagine. We have discovered that it takes him a little while to relax and accept new people, animals, and situations. When he is nervous or unsure, he is very reactive. His reactions include barking and jumping and can be intimidating to other dogs and/or people. This is simply for show because Willie does not have an aggressive bone in his body. He has met with a local trainer for evaluation and she agrees that his is a high energy dog that has never been taught acceptable manners. He is currently in training and working on greeting others without the excessive barking and growling. When introduced properly, Willie loves to play with other dogs but he can get rough and loud at times(he does not realize this so he needs his person to keep watch when he has playtime). In the proper home environment, Willie is great with kids and fine with cats too! We are excited to have him with us and look forward to learning more about his personality each day!
