Adecco Engineering and Technical, a division of the world leader in the recruitment of engineering and information technology professionals, has an immediate opening for an Digital Field Service Engineer on a --CONTRACT TYPE-- opportunity with a leading company in Atlanta Ga
Digital Field Service Engineer Duties include:
Maintain digital headend/hub system with the objective of 100% operational up time
Provide efficient and effective troubleshooting of the digital video solution in a CATV environment to minimize system down time
Work with 3rd-party vendors to integrate the S-A system with other network components
Provide professional oral and written system status to customer, SciCare Management and S-A engineering
Actively participate in any S-A/customer conference calls
Install all S-A system release software upgrades
Assist SciCare and S-A engineering in the implementation and testing of new products
Participate in the installation of new headend/hub equipment
Provide informal digital video system training to customer
Troubleshoot very extensive and complex networks with the ability to resolve root cause issues and document the problem and resolution
Up to 100% travel, both domestic and international
Required Experience:
Proven customer facing skills
Experience in the cable industry, working knowledge of Scientific Atlanta or Motorola Headends
Analog/Digital Headend (CATV) system experience
Command line experience with Sun Solaris
End to end knowledge of WAN/LAN technologies (OSPF, TCP/IP, OC-3, ATM, VPN, etc)
Experienced in configuring and troubleshooting Routers and Switches in a TCP/IP environment
Ability to use a spectrum analyzer and protocol analyzer
Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced network environment
Function as a team member and be a self motivated learner
Education Qualifications:
Prefer BS Degree Electrical Engineering/Computer Science/Mathematics. Minimum of associate's degree with appropriate experience and/or 4 + years of digital video experience.
