Description
Sykes Enterprises, Incorporated is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to fill a requirement in Atlanta, GA. This is a contract position with the possibility of becoming permanent. 15% International travel may be required.
SUMMARY
The Senior Systems Administrator designs, implements, and maintains complex infrastructure in a SAN environment with respect to access methods, access time, validation checks, organization, security, documentation and statistical methods. This position is directly involved with the design of the systems and works with user community to develop requirements. Responsible for multiple complex systems in production (24x7x365), development, and test environments. Implementation responsibilities include configuring and troubleshooting server based Applications; Microsoft SQL, Advanced Scripting, Data Warehouse and Web Server tuning. Highly proficient in Microsoft SQL 2000, Windows 2000 to include installation, upgrade, configuration, database design, object and schema management and data warehouse configurations. Advanced knowledge of Active Directory and LDAP, including the ADSI editing function.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Incident Management Level 3 - Provides support to include resolution and re-engineering.
- Server/Application Administration - Validate requirements; validate system designs; oversees Microsoft SQL database instances, design complex scripts, and prepares change implementation documents. Analyzes SQL databases and scripts on production systems in order to facilitate improvements. Supports development, test and training environments. Develops technical specifications for procurement of systems, equipment, and services for Advanced Systems.
- Server/Application Documentation - Documents all areas of the systems, including which clients are accessing which applications, databases and system security design. Works with the Business continuity manager on creating and updating system disaster avoidance / recovery plans.
- Change Administration ? Acts as a key participant in Change Implementation Management (CIM) and submits change control documentation in accordance with SYKES standards.
- IT Physical Asset Management - Responsible for IT asset management for SAN systems and provides reports to management and the Sykes Asset Manager in accordance with SYKES standards.
- Software Compliance - Responsible for all SAN software compliance issues and provides monthly reports to management and the SYKES Asset Manager.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor?s degree in Computer Science or Communications Engineering. 5 to 7 years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

- Solid understanding of SQL, Scripting, Citrix
- Strong analytical and diagnostic skills for database management and web server tuning
- Advanced knowledge of Active Directory, Windows 2000 and Exchange 2000
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Back Office and .Net
- Advanced Knowledge of Terminal Services and remote client connectivity
- Solid understanding of windows client operating systems
- Strong written and verbal skills
- Proficient use of Microsoft Office
