Position Description:Summary


The Director of Medical Surgical Nursing Units is responsible for providing clinical and administrative direction to services which support the care of patients recieveing medical surgical care and Wound Care. She/he promotes excellence in leadership practice and management direction through her/his role as evaluator, change agent, educator, and consultant utilizing participative management theory and style. Maintains responsibility and accountability for all administrative and clinical operations for areas of assignment including the performance of leadership, staff, services rendered and patient outcomes.




Qualifications


Bachelor degree in Nursing or related field required.


A minimum of 5 years of nursing experience in an acute care setting.


A progressive background in management required.


Membership in a professional organization preferred.


Current license to practice as a registered professional Nurse in the Sate of Georgia.


Ability to read, analyze and interpret data, general healthcare periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations.


Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, patients, , physicians, staff, and the general public.


Basic computer skills are necessary.
